      This summer, CHARTS, the emerging culture, heritage and arts network for Argyll and the Isles, will be carrying out a Long Distance Route marketing campaign to connect and profile, culture, heritage and arts, on or near to the National Cycle Route's N75/78 - from Dunoon to Portavadie and Tarbert to Appin.

      We are pleased that many CHART members are keen to take part. This pilot campaign aims to assist the sector to maximise audience and income from the growing Argyll and the Isles tourism market and aims to raise awareness of Argyll and Isles’ rich cultural offer, presenting a range of visitor experience throughout the route and neighbouring areas.

      BTS are running free workshops for potential participants as follows:

      Oban (the Rockfield Centre) 4.30pm, Tuesday 30th April
      Tarbert (Village Hall), 4.30pm, Wednesday 1st May
      Dunoon, (Queens Hall), 4.30pm, Thursday 2nd May

      Bute Fabrics, located on the Isle of Bute, talk about their history and passion for colour and texture while contemporary Scottish designer Dean Brown reflects on his design influences and how important colour is in his design process.

      With a different focus each time, this monthly event explores Scotland’s rich design history. The series will look at historical examples of design, as well as how history influences contemporary designers. Most sessions feature two speakers making fascinating connections between the past and present.

      Senior Designer Kirsty be talking a bit about the history of the Mill, Bute Industries/Bute Looms/Bute Fabrics, our design process from initial storyboards to final fabrics, our own collections, collaborations and our brand new collaboration with David Irwin.
