Co-working is not a new idea. All over the UK and across the world Co-working spaces are emerging in response to changes in the way people engage in work. These changes have been enabled by technology and the growth of freelance and home-working arrangements across multiple sectors of the creative and non-creative industries. However, most of the current Co-working spaces service the needs of urban communities. This project sets out to understand how a Co-working space could be established and sustained in Dunoon and Cowal.

To date the project has gathered data from a small sample of freelance workers based in the area. Over the next 6 - 12 months the project aims to understand more fully the potential demand from freelance workers and enterprise start-ups in Dunoon / Cowal through a range of market research activities.

There is now an online survey to and facebook page + group @dunoonandcowalcoworks

Hi Hannah. This is a live issue for those of us working in & around Cowal. I think it is also chicken & egg, if there is space here in then I think more people will be attracted to start up micro business. I'm not sure how far you've got but it's a great initiative.
